Got new batteries for my camera! I know, it doesn't sound all that impressive...BUT! These are "special" (NiMH) batteries and they totally make a difference. Especially to me and my state of mind not having to change out batteries every 10 minutes. (Next purchase is a bigger memory card.)

So, with my new found freedom to click away, I did just that this past weekend! I was click happy. It felt really good....so good in fact that I had to download my pics and video to my computer several times. Yay! I'm not quite ready to share it all yet....they certainly aren't all gems, primarily video's, and need to be gone thru. An upcoming project, after I finish a painting that I'm working on, is to compile the video's for a DVD. A certain few musicians are pumped about that! And I am too... :)

P.S. Time has just flown by since my last post. I bet anyone who reads this blog thought I abandoned it. HaHa. I was kind of wondering myself. Well, it seems like it was just spring not that long ago. Much has been going on and much more to come.

Harvest of the Arts is upon us and I'm excited! First, Fall is my very favorite season. I love all of the colors it brings and the crispness in the air. Second, I'm so thankful that the arts/artists of our community are being recognized and appreciated. We have a lot to offer. Third, there are so many wonderful things to see and eat. Like, fresh local maple syrup and maple cream, local organic apples, Chicken BBQ!, and all the crafty wares set along a great fall backdrop.

I'm hoping to show 3 of my paintings. Of course, View from the Cabin, Sailing the Sea, and Sunset through the Trees (below). I'm taking part in the organization of this years event, specifically in honoring local area artist Bill Grausgruber. So I'll be out and about running around with my camera and setting things up. I made some changes to my account here and lost the comment she wrote. Sorry Lori! And thank you for the comment.

For those of you that missed her comment, she related to me something that an art teacher once told her. It said that "it takes two people to produce truely great art: 1 to paint and 1 to stop the painter before the painting goes too far." Boy can that ever be true! On more than one occasion I have taken a painting past it's prime. It's a real bummer, but when you get down to the nitty gritty, it is just paint and cloth (or wood as it may be.) Learning from that mistake and applying the knowledge to not take it further in future paintings is what is important. If you don't try, you won't know. In reference to the View From the Cabin painting, Lori went on to say that she didn't think the it didn't need much more, but I felt that I had to tweak the trees, and foreground a bit. I'm calling it done now.

View From the Cabin. Acrylic & Mixed Media on Masonite

Well, I guess it's about time for me to have a Studio blog. It seems like a good way to share my works with friends, family, and others in the online community. . . You should know that I do not consider myself to be an artist only, but a designer and creator, working in many media. These include but are not limited to Graphic Design, Painting in Oils and Acrylics, Fabric, Photography, and Mixed-Media. What is my style? My style is my own and varies from one mood to the next. ;) Today I'll show some more realistic, representational paintings.

Enough seriousness, let's see the goods!

Sailing the Sea. Acrylic on Stretched Canvas 24" x 36"
Just about everyone that see's this in person remarks how wonderful the sky is. Don't get me wrong, the sky is nice, but I love the way the rocks jut into the water and seem to radiate the warmth of the day. How wonderful it would be to be there now!

Untitled/In Progress. Acrylic on Stretched Canvas 9" x 12"

Again, I get many remarks on how wonderful the sky is. That is probably why it is still an in progress painting. I really like the sky, too and am painting this from a photo I took along a dirt road near my home. In the center of the photo is an apple tree that looks similar to the tree of life. It's a nice looking tree. I'll have to do some sketches for placement to see if that makes up my mind.
